Arsenal could
miss out on long-time transfer target Gonzalo Higuain - after Napoli opened
talks with the Real Madrid striker.
The Gunners have been after Argentina international Higuain all summer, but haven't managed to agree a fee with Spanish giants Real.
Now, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed they want Higuain - and the Italians are flush with cash from this week's £55million sale of forward Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain.
De Laurentiis claims there's a massive £108million available to new coach Rafa Benitez boost his team's firepower, and says the club also want Brazil forward Leandro Damiao, who has been repeatedly linked with Spurs.
He said: "It's true that we're negotiating for Gonzalo Higuain and Leandro Damiao.
"The money we got for (Edinson) Cavani was 64.5m euros and added to the 60m euros we had set aside for the transfer budget there will be 124.5m euros to carefully invest on Napoli.
"There are various names on the table, we're assessing the situation."
